(blogamole.mtvtr3s.com)Latinos in the U.S. are becoming more and more powerful. In the new 2010 consensus, "six out of the eight states that are expected to gain U.S. House seats would not receive them without recent population growth among Hispanics, which may make Latinos more politically powerful" (Davidson, Deseret Morning News).

Also, Latinos in the recent weeks have been able to show significant power by rallying against ex-CNN talk show host, Lou Dobbs, "who had been known to say things that discriminate the Latino population. There had been much protesting among the Latino population about Dobbs saying U.S. should put a fence around the U.S. border to keep immigrants out" (Bauder, Associated Press).

The Latino population starting to become a more powerful voice with the political strides it's been making. United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is the first Latino to become a Justice for the USSC. All around the nation Latinos are starting to speak up, but it seems as if Obama's Healthcare reform plan may be the key issue for Latinos to rally behind.
Right now the Healthcare Bill is in the Senate and could be one of the most important bills to be passed in a decade. Not only for all Americans is health care important, but for Latinos it could be vital in their political prominence.
